My mother's mother, or my Grandma Nelson (maiden name - Jordin) Wrote this history of the valley, and the little town of Fort Jones, where my mother was born. She gave me this copy when I was 14 years old. Her writings start on page one, but first, here are some pictures. (Comments within the photo were written fo my daughter.)

My mom was born

in Fort Jones, which is

in Scott Valley

My brothers Bob and Jim, and myself were

born in Chico, California

My brother Don and my

father were born in

Lorain, Ohio

I have been here many times with my family to visit my grandparents. I would take walks downtown tot the general store, and to the museum. I also climbed the hill behind my grandparents house. Had to watch out for rattle snakes. I have also been to services at the old church in town. I think it would fill up with less than 30 people.
